I took this picture when I was in Belize. We were at a Mayan Ruins site and this tree was naturally a dramatic piece of work. With the clouds and the overall landscape it grew on, this All Spice Tree was beautiful to capture.
I agree that the tree made for a great shot. You captured the perfect lighting for it and good detail. I would think about masking the sign out though, and welcome to caedes.
I have "allspice" in my kitchen cupboard, and I never knew it was the product of a particular tree! Being curious, I looked it up and learned a lot about these very impressive trees! Anyone interested can check this net site: http://www.theepicentre.com/Spices/allspice.html
This photo shows this very old tree sort of hanging on by his toenails...and it is a very nice picture indeed. That slope is really steep, and the tree might be even more impressive if it were possible to take a step back (and I am not sure you could have done that right there) and show more of the slope. Nice shot, and Welcome to Caedes!
Sounds like a wonderful trip. I did not realize "all spice" was the product of a tree - one would think of little plants harvested and mixed together with a name like "all spice." Have to agree also on the stepping back - if possible - to see the entire tree. I like the cliff hanger effect.
I'd like to 'third' the idea of stepping back to include the entire tree, and I would clone out the sign. Outside of that, this is a dramatic image, especially with the slant of the earth and the 'will' of the tree to survive and flourish no matter where.
