Several years ago Sue and I went to Lassen Volcanic National Park in northern Ca. and came across this wonderful specimen of Manzanita. I discovered there are 106 species of manzanita, 95 of which are found in California. Hope you enjoy. This will be my entry into the Patterns Nature Makes contest.

There are a 106 stories in the Naked Park BB. This is one of them. Good choice for the contest.

So THAT'S what those trees are. I see one now and then here in Oregon, I loved the reddish look of them! And of course, my favorite beach town here is called Manzanita !! I've saved the curling bark like this from the Birch trees here, would love to have some of this Manzanita wood too. This is a gorgeous texture photo Bruce. Just lovely. Verena
