I grew up in northern Utah within 15 miles of Ben Lomond and Willard peaks shown here. This is part of the Wasatch Front mountain range which runs approximately 160 miles from the Utah-Idaho border, south through central Utah. Ben Lomond on the right has an elevation of 9,711′ and Willard Peak in the center 9,763′. While attending my 50th high school reunion I stayed at my sisters house in Farr West and this is the view from her front yard. When I was 19 I scaled Ben Lomond with 2 of my brothers right up the front (south) elevation carrying our sack lunches and some water. Well, we lost part of our lunches as they slipped out of our shirts - didn't have legitimate back or day packs with us as was the case so I guess we deserved what we ended up with----HUNGER!!! we did eat what was left of our lunches in 10 minutes and then started down hungry and tired:) It took us 5 hours to get to the top but only 2 hours coming down. Man were we ever hungry so off to the closest hamburger joint we went!!! Here's a picture from Google maps showing the route we took viewed from the south face: Ben Lomond ENJOY!!
