Bruce, the imaginary character of Quasimodo may have had a disfigured appearance, but I don't think he was malicious and there was nothing wrong with his mentality either. People were afraid of him and he wasn't accepted because of his physical defects.
I hope you've tried to visualize this with your fine render. I hope however you haven't visualized a split personality, because if I've read and interpreted the story correctly, he wasn't affected with the latter, Buddy.
