Here's another view of the river from the gardens at the Magnolia Plantation for those of you who wanted something without the grass obscuring the foreground. I might delete one of these depending on what sort of feedback I get, so (please) comment!

I saw this one before the other, but having now compared them I definitely prefer this. Being more open at the front gives a way into the picture, and the higher viewpoint makes a more interesting composition. The richer colours help too (although that blue at the front is so deep as to look a little artificial). A very nice capture of a lovely scene :-)

I agree with Simon...his comment expressed it perfectly.
You have a great DOF in this picture and the whole composition is very well balanced.
It seems as if a lucky chosen few has their houses there...must be a wonderful place to live. Very good work from you and thanks for sharing it.

The color of the water really sets this shot off...

Not the torturer will scare me Nor the body's final fall Nor the barrels of death's rifles Nor the shadows on the wall Nor the night when to the ground The last dim star of pain, is hurled But the blind indifference Of a merciless unfeeling world

Hmm, I don't mind the vibrancy of the colours in this image, as the balance of composition is so good.

In fact, balance may be the operative word here. Between subject matter, colour and composition. Great work. Annnnd ... it would appear that your editing chops are up to speed. Detail and clarity are not competing, nor too overwhelming.

Beautiful image.
