Having recently taken the plunge with a Nikon D40 DSLR I've gone all arty and started taking photos. This is my first attempt at a "photo for photo's sake" and my first Caedes submission (after years of downloading). All feedback would be gratefully received and if anyone wants to take the image into photoshop and make it wonderful, then please do so. Let me know what you've done with it. Thanks all.

I wish I were skilled enough to play around with this - there is so much potential. I like the creative aspect of the shot of these stones - it IS very tranquil and perhaps does not really need much of anything done after all! I love the close up texture of them. Perhaps try taking more shots of this arrangement from different angles? Anyway - I like it! Hope to see more from you!

Thanks for your comments. I may do a small series of these three stones. They are skim stones picked up from Dawlish warren beach in Devon. Now there's a beach MADE for skim stones. Thousands of them!

Would you like the whole object in focus? The front of the stone is (as they say) pin-sharp, but I would need to close the appeture somewhat to increase the focal range to get the whole thing sharp. I'll see what I can do. Just waiting for another sunny day as this was taken using only natural light. Do you not think that "all in focus" would reducxe the serenity of the overall effect?

Wow...! I love the concept, the composition and especially the simplicity. The blank background, colours of the stone and that hint of blue between the stones make this very interesting. Great post, and along with your second post you've definitely captured my attention.
