This is a detail view of the second story of the Otto Henry Building in the courtyard of Schloss Heidelberg. Built by Prince Elector Otto Henry, the palace was five stories tall. It is considered one of the most artisitically significant palaces in the castle and most magnificent example of German Renaissance secular architecture. Each story had sculptures in window niches. The second story sculptures represented the Five Virtues. The Virtue of Love is centered over the main entrance with a medallion depicting Otto Henry at her feet. The upper stories look incomplete because the building was gutted by a great fire in 1764.

The virtue of love looks great. I luve it how there's minimal symmetry... shame the fire burned the structure.

I got this in the booth and thought I`d say how much I liked it. It must have been hard to get all the colours and for me the small plants are the iceing on the cake and are a tell on how good this is. Excellent!

Sheesh, Chris, you'd think that after 243 years they'd be able to come up with some restoration money. This is just gorgeous, but perhaps it's just the way you photographed it??? :)

Very interesting commentary - history I'm ignorant of. I really enjoy seeing the building and you photographed it so well.

I really like this! The colors are not what I would have expected and the detail on the building is terrific. I'm glad you showed us this. The shot is so clear too.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
