One from the files....Headstone in the Circular Congregation Church Cemetery in Charleston, SC. Taken Dec 2006. I was trying to see the headstones from a different perspective and liked the contrast between the in focus headstone and blurred background. Comments always welcome.

Chris I like the image itself but I think there is too much glare to the background or to bright. That is just my thought though but all in all its a good post.

It looks to me like even the rose is weeping, but the sun shines down on all just the same. Interesting post, Chris. Nice clarity on the head stone.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

I was going to comment only on the technical aspects of this upload and there are a lot of things I could have said, but the more I looked at it, and thought about it, the more sentimental I grew about the view of the subject...now I feel like he's crying for the lost images in the background and I want to go and sit by his image...didn't stir the imagination pot of mine too much, did ya, my friend..

This is one of the reasons I love art so much...stirs the soul day and night..thanks for this one.

"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon

This is a prime example of everyone having a different "perspective", so I wanted to let you know a little of what I "saw" in this creatively...

Although it may need some work technically, it was exactly what I'd envisioned creatively. In a nutshell, this image portrays the journey from the "darkness" of death and grieving to the "light" of healing and regaining an appreciation for the beauty of life. The small child is sad and is weeping for his/her lost loved one....but, although essential to the healing process, grieving is a transitory thing and the "light" of life..and living...and loving...and laughing always awaits us on the other side of the grieving process...

So...it's rated as a 47...whatever. I personally think it deserves better than that, but we all "see" things differently.

I like that crying angle. I often see beautiful things on cementarys, but not all the pics work out that fine as I see it here.

This is really a unique headstone. I agree about the contrast. The color in the background deepens that effect.
