Hibiscus or Rosemallow is a species of flowering plants native to many subtropical and tropical regions of the world. There are more than 200 species of these plants and the five-petal flowers are found in a wide variety of colors ranging from pink, red, purple and yellow. Taken with a Nikon D50 while visiting family in Valrico, FL.

Well done. Great control of DOF on this to get all the parts of the flower so nice and sharp. I like that they stand out so well from the background also. If I have to find something to improve I would say that the brown bit of dead flower in the upper left corner could be cloned out. But it is not very noticeable and overall this is excellent.

Speaking from experience as the owner of several hibiscuses (hibisci?), the beauty is the happy part. The sad part is that these blossoms only look like this for one day. Yup, curled and ready to open one day, fully open the next day, and curled and drying on Day 3. You caught these on their Prime Day! Nice shot.

ooo..I came to this late, but I saw it in the featured pics on the home page, and I just had to come and see who it was..High Biscuits we used to call them..lol...there is nothing like a whole bush of these growing outside your door..thanks for this wonderfully clear and magnificent shot

Georgeous...red is my favorite color...and the black background allows you to focus on the beautiful flower. It makes a wonderful, uplifting desktop background...congrats!
