Your image of the Sun Dogs is so cool!!! I really did not know what Sun Dogs were and did some research and found out that its an atmospheric phenomenon that occur as a pair of bright spots on either side of the sun. Excellent shot - spectacular - well done - thanks for posting!!! You were quite lucky to get this shot!!!

Thanks,
I took a picture of this same sun at 10am and the Dogs were still following the sun, I'll post it later, they usually disappear when the sun comes over the horizon.

Good photo. I've tried to photograph sun dogs before but I have never seen them quite like this. It is interesting that they line up parallel with the horizon. Are they always like that? And if yes, why? I guess I'll have to get an optics refresher.

I took a similar photo in November of sundogs, and they rarely occur that early because the weather isn't normally that cold. But they were in the same position then as this one taken last week. I am located in SW Minnesota, I don't know where you're from, but this may have something to do with it. I took this photo at 10am that day and they were still there, this is uncommon for them to hang around that long. Here's a link to the other photo. http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Caedes::Infopage&image=Gergie-1420846562.jpg
