Re-cropped and made into a black & white makes this the much more dramatic effect I was seeing in my mind. Which do you like best??

With the indistinct background the checkered effect works well in b & w!

I like this better. I found tarp distracting in the other for what you were trying to show. Good post and good eye to see this photo.
