This is for Tina, I know you shared a photo of your childhood home, so here's mine as promised. I dug through most of my old photos, and this is the only one showing the front of the house, sorry. What you don't see in the earlier picture are the two maple trees on the front lawn or other landscaping. The picture on the left is 2011 and the older one is 1974. My room was where the three windows are on the second floor. Looking at the latest photo doesn't really sadden me, just like many things in Detroit, this is a prime example of the decay throughout much of the region. I have a million memories coming back like the time my older sister got into a fight with some boys who tried to take a quarter we were flipping on the front lawn and she held them face down by the neck. I waddled up to try and help and got kicked in the face. ;) My mom sitting on the front porch in the summer of 1968 pregnant with me and it being so hot, granted, she told me that one. :)

This is so great Alex! I can't believe you remembered! That is a wonderful old photo, I love the nice chairs on the porch. Yes, it is quite sad, what is happening to a lot of neighborhoods. I am originally from south Minneapolis, Minnesota, but the same abandonment and degradation happens here in Wisconsin too. Hopefully we will never lose our memories of those good (and sometimes bad) old times and the closeness with our families. Of course, it's really the family that made the house a home anyway. Thanks for thinking of me my friend:)
