This Great blue heron is standing where our resident alligator usually hangs out. Great Blues are usually fearless and don't take guff from other animals. I took this from my patio 11/17/17.
Mighty good shot! indeed.(approved) they are very hard to sneak up on. you have to be crafty! sand hill cranes are like this. I had a pair out in my field in the distance, to get them closer? the camera was on a tri-pod...the legs of the pod looked like theirs legs. with a black coat on and white shirt? mimics the birds underside. some red or orange beanie hat?(optional) when you flap the black coat open back in forth like wings a couple of time and show the white shirt as the underside of the bird?...following me? they will fly within 30 yrds and land just to see if you're competition. thats perfect shooting distances, dont believe me thats how this was done I've done this several times! so its not a fluke. :) I even have a way to get dangerously close to deer as well..lol years of hangin out in the woods, Alex. you learn all sorts of stuff. Im sure a little thinking to fool a heron is possible as well. just a little food for thought for everyone that reads your post.
The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
He appears to be posing for you. Good shot.
