This is a very nice picture that deserves a bit of TLC. As a resident of Lynchburg (VA), I know what a lovely sight the Shenandoah Valley can be -- when the air is clear, which is not all that often anymore, unfortunately. We amateurs, who don't have fancy filters for our cameras, have no choice but to do a little after-the-fact editing, in order to counteract the haze. Here's a suggestion: if you have Picasa, it has a "graduated tint" function that will selectively darken those distant hills and sky.
Can't always give individual thanks but I am so appreciative of everyone's comments and input. I truly enjoy seeing all of your posts and am always happy to see you at My Gallery. Thanks, Anita
I have Adobe Photoshop, but I choose to leave the haze since it was a natural part of the scene. If it had been an artifact from the camera then I would have made the changes to reflect the natural scene. Thanks for the tips and compliments :-)
Hi, Allie. The haze is arguably "natural" in the sense that it was part of what you saw; but it's also an "artifact" because it is primarily caused by man-made air pollution. That's why I thought it would be OK to give Mother Nature a "helping hand" via a little editing, so we could see the panorama as it might have been. (And, since Caedes is a wallpaper site -- rather than, say, a photojournalism site -- it's OK to tinker with reality now and then.)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16
After doing some checking, I agree it could use a little color adjusting to help the green pop, but I gotta say there is certainly a lot less haze in your picture than when I was there.
So that's the Shenandoah Valley. What a great view. Love your vantage point to take photo. I know there has to be a golf course down there somewhere. Great post.

Pictures say a thousand words but the artist taking the picture can say more. Take care and god bless you and yours each and every day'
What really brings a member to view your work I say the naming of your image I know it does me, the name makes me want to see that image'
My pics from this same road were really a waste of film b/c they were so hazy. Yet I kept snapping anyway, hoping to catch something good. Thanks for doing a better job than I did.
