These were two boys playing accordians for money at the foot of the Vatican City walls. It seemed strange to me that two such young boys should have to beg for money so close to the largest catholic church in the world. I also thought the smiling face graffitied on the wall was an ironic touch. This is my entry into the current black and white contest.

Lovely. You're right and I agree with your analysis.
After 2000 years of history it seems, sometime, that the Christianity is too much link to the Necessity (legislation) than to the Love (Caritas).

It seems there's some poverty almost everywhere Rach, what's the real reason for these boys begging ? it seems we shall never know.
Well done on this journalistic type upload.

The smile on the wall is ironic indeed.
But a good contrast with the two boys.
The b/w is a good choice in this case because of the poverty/sober look.

And...good luck in the contest.

This is a very good photo with this smiley face on the wall. And I know the reason why these boys begging: cause they don't have money. The life is so hard and unfair.

@gonedigital: And you said "there's some poverty almost everywhere". This is true, but not OK I think. Shrug of the shoulders doesn't aid for anyone.

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Ironic indeed. Breaks my heart that they have to beg so young. You have captured this ironic scene very well, I like the b&w.

So if I vote on your image you're likely to receive a 10/10. Why? Because every capture of life around us or artificial generation of color and lines is unique and special.______________ READ MY CAEDES HEATED POST HERE WITH A PRAETOR
