Prior Park Gardens are tucked away on one of the hills in Bath where a palladine bridge (one of the best preserved) resides as seen in this shot. I took many many shots of this subject but im not sure about the others as they all look down the hill towards the bridg. Hope you like this one anyway.

Very nice.

Quite a beautiful setting, taking in all of the various elements of land, water, and architecture.

Nicely composed as well. A strong element in and of itself. Colours are natural. Focus/clarity is good good.

Caveats?

Given the lighting conditions, you really did well. I am not sure what camera you have, so.. some creative food for thought on the notes of post processing after the fact.. with respect to exposure.

Phil's; aka philcUK tutorial ... "Faking the HDR thing...". For an assist on taming the sky (a lil') and more so, to bring out some more details in the shadowed areas (again, a lil').

Hope you don't mind, here is an 'adjusted' version:

"Prior Park Gardens" - Adjusted (Shadow/Highlights) and Cropped.

The sky gets borked a bit as a result, however. You could, with the original in hand, avoid the slight banding that creeps in.

On the note of the crop, tightened things up just a tad.

For one, lost some of the sky ... and then that of the darker bush in the left-hand side and the path on the right. Both created mergers with the outside frame to an extent. (Me nit picking here on composition.. more or 'les's. <-- Get it, get it? :oP)

Allll that nonsense of mine aside, I do enjoy your image here Rachel.

And please let me know if it bothers you that I mucked about with your photo, no questions asked. Stood out in and amongst the new images and I couldn't resist.

So.. lastly ...

Thanks for sharing this most pleasant to view scene with us. :o)

A nicely composed scene and lovely architecture work in the bridge. I like the reflection in the water. I was going to suggest a little cropping, but I see that has already been covered rather nicely. Good work and thanks for sharing.

The composition with the bridge dominating on the bottom right thirds powerpoint and the house echoing strongly on the top left thirds powerpoint, is really excellent. You can see where the waterline runs across the pylons of the bridge, that the water surface is tilted to the left a bit. (A simple way to check the vertical and horizontal lines in a shot - when it's open in a window, pull the window down to the bottom edge of your computer screen to see if the horizontal lines, like the water surface or horizonline, are actually level, or do the same thing by checking vertical lines against the side edge of your screen.) Les pretty much covered other areas for consideration to max what is a great landscape architecture shot.

It is not "The powerful attack the weak." it is "The fearful attack what they fear."
