This is the start of my series on the Red Arrows display i shot at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta last month. Less than a week after i took this series of shots one of the Red Arrows pilots seen here was tragically killed when he lost control of his plane and crashed. Suddenly my series of shots took on a whole new meaning and i now also post as a tribute to that man's life. The sky in some of the shots is quite grainy and although ive tried to smooth it out i couldnt go too far otherwise i lost the definition of the planes. This is a by product of having to set a high ISO setting because i needed a very fast shutter speed. I seem to be managing to post one image a week at the moment so hopefully you wont get too bored! I also probably could have cropped and right edge of the image more but i liked the idea of the planes flying into the space beyond. Comments and critiques welcome!

----I also probably could have cropped and right edge...---

Think it's wise that you haven't done this, Rachel. You took the right decision because the viewer gets a better idea now about the act that the fast flying planes are performing now.
Although hard to cature, a great action shot to me. Very well done.

Regards, Cornelius.

You did make the right choice of not cropping, gives us a good perspective. It is a lovely tribute to the pilot, who lost his life doing what he loves. Tigs♥ =^..^=

My old eyes must be in bad shape, Rachel. I don't see any noise. I don't see anything that should have been cropped. If you keep apologizing for your shots in the narrative, you're going to get into even more trouble.

You think you're home free because you haven't seen me stalking you since you posted your flower shot last week. As soon as I get some money for a ticket, figure out where Bath is and get a passport, watch out.

Seriously...a well balanced and finely detailed action shot.

A nice composition of the shot, Rachel. Good job not cropping off the right hand side. The noise in the sky is not that distracting from the beauty of the shot. A nice tribute to the pilot.
