I heard of them being called 'sewing needles' when I was a kid and I thought that is what they would do to me, so I ran from them as fast as I could. LOL I know I've seen it called a blue damsel before. You got him good too. Great closeup, Jan!
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

My grandmother, since we're swapping stories here, told me that they would sew my hair together (I wore braids a lot back then) so I wasn't in the vicinity when they were around. This is an excellent shot, and even though I like the IR filter, I don't think it would have done this natural beauty justice :)
What a lovely creature, all irisdescent blue. The clarity is fantastic and I like the light on the green leaves. You've caught those gossamer wings so well. She's a perfect inhabitant of this magical place. Kudos Jan. :)
Hey Jan,
Beautiful picture, you've done a great job here, perhaps you could try out taking an IR image of a damsel, they tend to stay put for a few minutes if you get lucky, (~8 8~)
Nicely done,

Gorgeous little critter you've captured here and you've captured it wonderfully. I'm surprised you got that close - they are jumpy little things normally. Great image, Jan -
