this was at the top of a mountain, we went up the cairngorns mountain railway, this was the cafe/viewing area which was shut because of falling ice. i didnt clone any background out as there was none because visiblity was virtually zero and it was bloody freezing!!!! lots of mad people skiing and snowbaording, i just wanted a hot water bottle and blanket! i thought it made a neat shot, but i think opinion has varied so far on who ive showed, but, im posting it anyway, love it or hate it!

Love the pulpit. I don't blame anyone for not showing up for the pose. I thought I just saw a brass monkey take off for the lowlands. Good post and put me on the list that likes this one.

Spring is in the air, but where's everybody, lol. Pretty cold there Jan. See on your image and read in your narrative that you had to withstand a lot of hard-ships.
Don't hate your image. Have chosen for the other possibility: just love it.

Ice Tea served at that cafe then, Jan? or a Frappe perhaps? I think its great and you've fettled the exposure just right I would say. Its a great shot... now what would I clone into that background I wonder? 8-) Tommy

Click here to see WHITBY through the lens of Frank Meadow Sutcliffe! PS I have no commercial link but Sutcliffe's photographs are historical! and any photographer worth his salt should at least know the history of their subject. He is one of the reasons I consider myself lacking, by the way. TG

Oh that is a wonderful winter image ! crisp and clear. The telescope tells me there must be a nice view below, but that can't be seen at this moment. Great picture.

I love it! I hate it! No, just kidding! It is a stark reminder of just how extreme the weather can be. To think that at some time during the year, you can sit here basking in the sun and drink a lemonade, but now there is no joy in the bitter cold whiteness at the top of the mountain. Though it is all white, there is enough contrast in here to show in detail what the scene is all about. I'm glad you posted it, Jan.

Hi Jan this is superb! You can feel the cold here, and I hope that c index goes up a bit because I think it should be MUCH higher. I like the simple border too.

I love this one Jan! High marks from me when or if I get it in the VB. It is a great photo with all that white in white. I also love the feel of surreal reality. Like floating around in time. Great shot and presentation!

Great composition. Great shot. Great feel and mood.

Highly artistic to my eyes Jan. Love how the image recedes and fades into that gorgeous snowscape and sky ... and into ... 'the absence', if I can coin a phrase here.

Sucky C-Index. >:o| (<--- 'some' of these words have been edited for some of our more sensitive viewer's eyes and minds.)

I love it.

+favs for me

Take a bow dear artist for daring to be original, different and offering us some wonderfully creative food for thought and inspiration.

Brrrr!!! If I would have taken this shot it would probably have been all blurry from camera shake because I'd be shivering uncontrollably! The all white palette is VERY pretty though. I don't know what's to the left of the telescope but I think I might have only included the one picnic table and the telescope in the shot with a little open space on the left if it was possible. ...But then again I like the wooden gate, it adds interest and I wouldn't want to exclude that. I really love this but it's difficult to decide on a focal point. It would have been perfect if there was only one table. But that's no reflection on your photography skills! You're still awesome Jan! :) They just have one too many tables!
