How many kinds of sweet flowers grow In an English country garden? We'll tell you now of some that we know Those we miss you'll surely pardon Daffodils, heart's ease and phlox Meadowsweet and lady smocks Gentian, lupin and tall hollyhocks Roses, foxgloves, snowdrops, forget-me-nots In an English country garden How many insects come here and go In an English country garden? We'll tell you now of some that we know Those we miss you'll surely pardon Fireflies, moths and bees Spiders climbing in the trees Butterflies drift in the gentle breeze There are snakes, ants that sting And other creeping things In an English country garden How many songbirds fly to and fro In an English country garden? We'll tell you now of some that we know Those we miss you'll surely pardon Bobolink, cuckoo and quail Tanager and cardinal Bluebird, lark, thrush and nightingale There is joy in the spring When the birds begin to sing In an English country garden everybody sing along :-) grin. or an alternative version for all you rockers out there! lol The Darkness

You forgot Dandelions,Knotweed,Thistle and Nettle all of which have found a permament home in my garden..Having said that I'm not going to make a song and dance about it and i'll simply say this is a smashing image..R.

Maybe there comes a time that we have spoken narratives at Caedes. Think it would be wonderful Jan when I hear you sing the above narrative. It's a matter of personal taste, but think I will prefer it (even if you can't sing) above the version as given by your link.
No comment on your image (lol) as it's again a perfect one.
Regards, Cornelius.

I know that song with different words (not suitable for Caedes LOL). Seems to be a 3D feel going on here. Nice job.

I prefer your version, Jan! Too much drums for me! lol I love the poem and I even have a book on how to grow one of these, but I'd never succeed. This is beautiful. Lots of nice colors in there and I like the vertical rectangular framing quite a bit. Looks like this might also be a knot garden as well.

I agree with the color & landscape...for that it is a great picture... but most of it is pretty soft...it would be a FANTASTIC PICTURE if it were razor sharp from front to back!!!

For you nonrocker here is Dimps' version to music. I swear one of those rockers is Sir Shrek.

Beautiful photo by the way. I like the masterful crop to get the most out of a bad sky. It really makes the green pop. I see you are back to square one.

I saw you taking this and remember thinking I would never have seen a composition like this. I would have been too obsessed thinking how I would get it all in to think about just cutting a path straight through it. I love how this turned out, with the focus on the little round tree and the hidden outhouse and everything else a jumble around it. The essence of an English country garden - and the square crop suits it superbly.
