Well, if this doesn't get the "buck fever" up and going nothing will. Excellent capture of this magnificent critter -

He looks scary Jan but I'm sure you frightened him far more than he scared you! LOL! Great clarity and composition and I love the way the image is a perfect mixture of browns, russets and and greens.

I actually like the vertical post Dimps. It really enhances that magnificent buck and his rack. It is a 14 pointer by my count. My grandson will really have buck fever when he sees this one. Not that I don't. :)
Great post.

Yesterday, my neighbors harvested a male deer from the woods next to me. It was 5-6 yrs old but had puny nubs for horns. Not much calcium around here which grows horns. They would have had a heart attack if they could have gotten one like this. Great capture, kiddo!

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

He was soooo sizing you up. I did think we might have a problem and you just stood there and carried on snapping. It's the neck that impresses me in this, as well as the antlers. He just has that look in his eye that says 'you are p***ing me off woman'!

Well Jan you certainly have a great capture here!! I must say that I have never shot a Buck that close with so much detail as you have here. He does look like he is in mating season so rightfully for you to worry about him charging you...again terrific shot...gerry
