Yes it's that time of the year when that beautiful purple Jacaranda tree is in full bloom.. I'd really like feedback on this one as I am not happy with it, I don't know if it was the light at the time of the shot or something wrong with the camera.. So PLEASE critic..

Judging by the lack of contrast and the lens flare on the cloud I'd say you shot into direct sunlight. Early morning or late afternoon are the best time to catch an image. The reason it looks a little washed is because the light has entered your lens and bounced around inside a little before reaching the sensor. A lens hood could have helped in this instance to stop some light from entering.

I had this in voting and was very curious about the trees. I had never heard of or seen a Jacaranda tree and actually thought maybe you had changed the colors. I don't know much about photography so I can't help with your concerns but I think it's a great capture. It's in my favorites.

My fav, of course Jac. I dont care how you shoot them as long as I get to see them ;+0
Seriously darling, this looks like something that I shoot when the light is dead wrong for photography and I do it anyway :(
I put this image in PS and did a couple of adjustments and it looks better. I will be anxiously awaiting more of these gorgeous Jacaranda Trees from you this year.
Many, many thanks for sharing this with me once again..now I am complete :)

sometimes, when you come across a scene like this, you have to ask yourself "self? what time of day would this look best? .. and if the answer to that is NOT the time on your watch, you need to come back .. set your alarm, get up early ..

if you're on vacation, and the tour bus is leaving in five minutes .. sometimes it's best to say "To Hell with schedules, I'm staying here, going to spend the night, I'll hitchhike across Europe to catch up with my tour bus .. maybe I'll meet a nice man named Guido"

If you live close by, well, you might miss out on strange men .. but that's what the internet is for

Agreed with Mayne.... Experiment with your exposure settings... try -.07 or oint camrea in sky but away from direct sunlight and hit the AEL ( auto expsosure lock ) button then focus on what you want to shoot and fire .... Just play !!!! i have been playing lots with my expsosures and found some interesting thingys :)

Well, besides appearing a bit washed out and a trifle fuzzy, (mind you, I'm no expert photographer by any means, just going by what I think I'm seeing) I love the scene itself Jac! This park and those trees are drop dead gorgeous. I made a few adjustments in PSP and Photofiltre myself and I think it looks better. If you'd care to see how it came out I'd be glad to email it to you.

Beautiful trees - is it a year since last we saw these beauties fom you? guess it must be.
They seem to lack a little of the vibrabcy of those ones but nevertheless a most delightful scene - and a pleasure to view.

Well, my only nag would be that there's too much sky: I'd have liked to see more grass: it would have been a nice contrast to the purple of the trees. But it looks like a magical place, I think you captured the awe that those trees inspire.
