Compilation of two photo's of the pier in Burgas, Bulgaria. Looking out over the Black sea. Originally shot with my Nikon F4, scanned and edited in photoshop. The pier only has one row of columns in real life.

Wow! Stunningly skilled manipulation. Kudos in all aspects. Welcome to caedes and congratulations on a great first upload to the site.

P.S.:I have no problem with the shaft of light on the second (left) pillar; the angle could arguably be slightly lower and less radical due to the overhang, but the striking contrast helps establish the quirkiness of the illusion. Also, the small wave in front is fine; I grew up on a beach and there's not always symmetry in motion when you have waves hitting multiple pylons beneath a pier.

Great skill here. But this image is optically confusing and for me personally would not make a good desktop. Would also like to see a different camera angle other than horizontal and straight on. but I do like the shadowing on the pillars, it is a great effect.

excellent job, yes you need to kill the shadow on the 2nd pillar on the left, it doesnt work, and something needs to be done with the wave front and centre, you did a very good job blending, but it looks unreal, a wave wouldnt do that in real life, so overlap a bit more of one image into the other or soemthing. good photography, and i think great quality for a scan

Thanks for the comments. I would like to add some of my personal thoughts about the image. First of all, it's largely a lucky shot (well, ok, two lucky shots). When taking the pictures I didn't intend on combining them, that only occurred to me when I saw the prints. Fortunately (and thanks to the F4's very good exposure meters) the two photo's were pretty much exactly matched in tone, contrast and brightness. That made the job of merging them I lot easier.
Two things I like a lot about the final image are it's strong visual symmetry and the surreal effect (or confusing effect if you like) it has. In that respect I would not be very much inclined to change the perspective, or the "wrong" shadow on the second column on the left.
I do agree that the wave in fron looks a bit unrealistic, and it's a part I've spent much time on. But unfortunately the two images don't overlap much, so I coulnd't yet make it any better. But i'll look into it again.
If you have the time be sure to check out my other pictures (Industrial landscape, just uploaded and Appartment block, Sofia, to be uploaded soon.) I'm very interrested in your comments.

Great image :) Makes one wonder if it's real or not at first. The manipilation is great and should leave some room to discover it's true nature IMO. Therefore I wouldn't change the shadows, but that's me.

I have a fondness for images of water and also of perspective. I didn't notice the light on the second piling until I read the comments and I have no problem at all with the wave in front. You've done a very good job of manipulation and I gave it a 9 only because I didn't get to take this shot myself.

Ew...what kind of fucking pier has steel pillars....besides the ugliness of their rustiness it's good photography job
