Cavia porcellus, also known as the Guinea Pig, has a very confusing name. They are not pigs, nor do they come from Guinea. Scientists, instead, believe they come from the Andes because many similar species reside there. Some enjoy them as pets, and others as food.

Yup, my friends used to have them when we were kids.I like this photo, it reminds me of how they used to hide in the grass.

Cute little critter and great closeup...I might be tempted to flip the image, like your avie, or take another shot where he/she is positioned to the right and thereby looking out rather than in a corner but otherwise a nice job on this.
