Finally! One of my first lightning shots ever. I got a few good ones that I might be posting after this. I chose the name because to me this looks like a UFO striking down. Not to mention that demonic looking cloud overhead! No manipulations. The star and orange glow come from street lights. This shot was taken in my backyard where I was safe under the porch. I was out there for a good hr and a 1/2. Trying my best to capture one of nature's gifts. Thanks to all who view and comment. (f.11, 20" ISO 200.)

Jay, I am extremely impressed. This is awesome. I thought for sure from the thumbnail page that this was a manipulation. Your hour and a half was not wasted my friend! It surely does look like a UFO. It's kind of scary, though. Faved!

I hope there wasn't anything under there with you! I think you have to be persistent with lightning. I always depress the shutter after the strike! That looks like a great storm you had and I like watching the lightning. It doesn't scare me until the thunder is right over head. That's quite a shot you got here. It shows the power of it and how it lights the night sky in purple. The clouds really reflected the light a lot and you have that mixture of great colors. I would like to see the other shots too.
