...Second to McWail, this is another highly publicized, and frequented haunted place both in the county and Hauntedstate...

Originally known as "Haunted Hollow", which already had its own unique legend (Something about a headless horse [instead of a rider, like at that other place in New York State], running amok all over creation on certain nights), the village was the site of a tragic Early Streamliner Train accident that took place on Halloween Night, seventy some-odd years ago...The "Doomsbury Zephyr", on a routine non-stop coast-to-coast excursion, had failed to reduce speed at a dangerous curve just before heading through the center of town... The train derailed, then went on a head-over-heels rollover that had completely taken out both the railroad station and adjoining post office before slamming into a local bar, which at the time was packed far over capacity with patrons celebrating the Halloween Night's festivities...Well over 120 people, both on the train and within the village, lost their lives, making the incident one of the worst recorded rail tragedies in Hauntedstate...As a gesture to remind railroad engineers and conductors to reduce their train's speed both on the curve, and through the center of town, the name "Haunted Hollow" was changed to "Trainwreck"...

It is known (and there supposedly is filmed documentation), that on every Halloween Night since, at 10PM sharp - the time the tragedy took place...the ghost of the entire Doomsbury Zephyr sounds its mighty horn, and instead of derailing, passes through town without incident, as it should have on that fateful night - had the operator taken heed of the speed restriction...Some claim they have seen the ghostly skeleton of the reckless engineer, forever chained to the front of the locomotive, and that the train's horn sound actually emanates from him! Others say that in addition to the engineer, all those that perished can be seen riding inside as the ghostly apparation rumbles through...Many a ghost and paranormal enthusiast flock to get a first-hand experience of this once-a-year phenomenon...Even the gates come down!

Any takers? You might have to put up with a sizeable crowd...And make sure you already have reservations at the motels or boarding houses in the area - I hear there isn't a vacancy to be had, come Halloween!

Sounds like the type of train, mystery trip we all would enjoy, Yogi.
Great sign and story.
