Orchard Lane, color version

I am stuck in the house today, because of the blizzard conditions here in Ohio. We have a level 3 snow emergency, and not allowed on the roads. I am running out of pictures to post, so I thought I would put up the original of this Orchard Lane black and white. Is it an improvement, the same or not as good? Thanks for your comments and opinions.

Jim, I think each has its own personality. The b/w was more like Twilight Zone. In it the the shadows on the snow from the orchard trees was more malefic and added to a darker mood. The color version shows me the cold and dispair of winter, too, but with that blue sky, there is more of a warmth present and more of a hope to be had. I like them both!

John has hit the Apple on the Head with his comments. I too like them both Jimmyappleseedbob. They have two separate personalities as John suggested which I fear describes you as well. lol. Enjoy you day inside. Sun is shining here. lol

I liked the X-files quality of the first posting Jim and took the liberty of flipping this one into invert mode. The trees look wicked in their negative state! This one feels colder and more distant though which I find interesting. Have a day by the fire. Early evening here in my town in the UK so i've got some mulled wine on the go for when my family are home for dinner. Have a great weekend. TG

Just keep it out there, okay?

I like this version better, actually. The trees sort of get "eaten" up in the first black and white and the shadows are more easily seen with the color.

It's already said above. Each image has it's own charm. Therefore I don't like to compare them.
Bad conditions there in Ohio Jim. Enjoy staying inside the house as far as possible.

Cornelius has an excellent point - 'each image has it's own charm.' I like both of them, but if you want an opinion - I personally prefer the B&W version better. This is an excellent photo, though, and the color adds an interesting element to the composition.

It's not an improvement. It's not the same. It's not not as good. It's different! I like it but for reasons other than those I liked the B&W version.

I like both versions Jim, but am leaning towards the B & W ... it brought out the mood of the scene ... dark & somewhat foreboding with emphasis on the tree limb shadows. This has more of a cold feel to it. Excellent work.

I'm leaning towards black and white right now as you might have noticed! So I think I like the BW version better. Just a personal preference, they're both very good. This shot just lends itself to black and white so well and I reckon that's the way you were thinking when you took it? One to frame and put on the wall.

Awesome image, the perspective and composition are great and the shadows are wonderful, very well done.

I like both of them a lot, they both have their own qualities.
If I have to choose, I will go for the B&W.

Tough call. I think in the B&W the shadows on the ground are much more pronounced and interesting, but the color of the sky and clouds certainly adds something. In the end I think the B&W wins by a hair.

I like them both Jim. However in a photo competition I think the B&W version would bring home the prize.
