I have no clue as to what this is? It was up by the waterfront in Sandusky, Ohio. Thanks for the comments, and a special thanks to Cuzin Jasper for not a buggin' me for takin' this picture. LOL.

It looks like the very rare Prickly Porcupynous that only grows along waterfronts and around Buckeye trees. You were probably in for a big reward. That is why Cuzin Jasper didn't say anything. He has taken the reward and headed south. Good clarity JimboB.

It looks like a succulent, Jimbob. Kind of a cacti type flower. It's very pretty and I've never seen one before. You did such a fine job on the capture. Funny, I wouldn't have thought this would be found on a waterfront.

Tick is right, as it's a Prickly Porcupynous indeed (Astrantius Cochlearimerata species). It's that rare that no information about it can be found yet on the net, so please send this image with appropriate text to Wikipedia, lol.
Very fine F² image Jimbob.

I don't know the name Jimbob - all I can say is that it has excellent symmetry and your capture is truly great. Tell cousin Jasper this is a new weapon in disguise - he'll be happy :)

I don't know what it is, but I wouldn't get any closer, it looks like a trap to me. I think it's just laying in wait for someone to come by and try to get a photo of it. You are probably lucky to get your shot and get away. Neat capture though.
