I have no clue as to what this is? It was up by the waterfront in Sandusky, Ohio. Thanks for the comments, and a special thanks to Cuzin Jasper for not a buggin' me for takin' this picture. LOL.
It looks like the very rare Prickly Porcupynous that only grows along waterfronts and around Buckeye trees. You were probably in for a big reward. That is why Cuzin Jasper didn't say anything. He has taken the reward and headed south. Good clarity JimboB.
It looks like a succulent, Jimbob. Kind of a cacti type flower. It's very pretty and I've never seen one before. You did such a fine job on the capture. Funny, I wouldn't have thought this would be found on a waterfront.
Tick is right, as it's a Prickly Porcupynous indeed (Astrantius Cochlearimerata species). It's that rare that no information about it can be found yet on the net, so please send this image with appropriate text to Wikipedia, lol.
Very fine F² image Jimbob.
* Owing to the deterioration in my hands, I find that I cannot comment as much as I should..But please know...I do look at all your posts!..and will leave my 'moniker' >OB< when I do so!...Thank you all *

I don't know the name Jimbob - all I can say is that it has excellent symmetry and your capture is truly great. Tell cousin Jasper this is a new weapon in disguise - he'll be happy :)
This Image GRABBED my EYE. That's Why I Stopped By.
Thanks For Sharing ! Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience
You need to hide this image Jim.....You have capture the soul of the very rare Indian Sunrise flower. The native americans will NOT be happy with you....RUN NOW WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!!
This foofy looks like an alien flower straight out of Star Trek ready to shoot it's barbs at Capt Kirk or Mr. Spock .. LOL Great shot JimboB .. Never seen this type of flower real nice.
I don't know what it is, but I wouldn't get any closer, it looks like a trap to me. I think it's just laying in wait for someone to come by and try to get a photo of it. You are probably lucky to get your shot and get away. Neat capture though.
Whatever it is, you've captured it very nicely JimBob. It does look like a succulent - if you grow them around your house it may lower your fire insurance.
Beautiful foofy shot! It is definitely some type of bud~but don't know until it finishes opening! Fabulous DOF! And a perfect composition and framing! :)Ami
Such a Cool find Jimbob and love the way it looks like the pedals and parts of the flower are outlined with that beautiful colour. Fabulous clarity and composition
I wonder what it is - kind of spiky looking and an interesting colour. If it was on the banks of the Sandusky I guess it could be anything right? The first alien flower abduction?
