My goodness, look at the meathooks on that thing! And they grow up to make such nice music. Great shot, good clarity on his little features!

Great capture of this unique and rather creepy bug! I do know that there are Cicada Wasps that burrow in the ground and will leave their nests to hunt these and take them back to their nests. . ♪ ♫ :)sandi♪ =^..^=

Made a mistake in my previous comment. A 'cicade' (in Dutch) is an insect who hide itself in its own made froth. A 'cicada' (in English) is called in Dutch 'krekel', is much bigger than a 'cicade' and makes the typical 'chirping' sound. Hope this explanation makes clear my previous comment. Have however never seen a cicada larvae shell, so this is an amazing image to me Jimbob.

A good macro, Jimbo. You should save those skins. When you get enough you can have 'em with a beer or two. Tasty! kinda like pork skins. Think your camera might have a but in it???.

Great macro shot again Jim...I swear it reminds me of a Locust shell....but we have a lot of them down here. Can here them in the trees in August when the heat gets really bad.
