This Is Larry Bird. No relation to the Hall Of Fame Basketball player. He wanted to be named after Paul Byrd, the baseball player, but he didn't want to go around with his last name spelled wrong. (If this is a female, then the poor thing is just going to have to suffer with a males name.) LOL.

Thanks for the comments, friends.

My husband says it's a female purple finch. So I guess she will have to suffer with the male name. Very nice shot!

Very nice shot Jim; I like the way the bird is posing with a longing on its face. And the active sky background. I am not one for bird pictures, but definitely you have made me turn my head with all your shots. The thin near branch that is out of the focus range is a bit distracting for me at the point where it is crossing the bigger buddy, esp. since the left side is totally in focus. Snap it next time :)

It is known that there is an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the product of a deranged imagination.

Very nice capture of this bird, Jim. But I am especially impressed with your special skills of communicating with animals. I don't know what I am doing wrong, they always run away from me. Maybe because I think too much about how I would cook them to eat.

See that Larry is a male 'boeroe bren bren'. A boeroe bren bren bird orginates from Indonesia and is a bird with flying backwards capabilities. Hope you'll understand that you've taken a very rare image Jimbob. So don't call him any longer a poor thing.
Very nice capture mate.

He or she is real cute JimBob, but after that narrative, I can see why you are getting the cold bird shoulder (which also makes one think she is probably a she.) Actually, I always like the name Leri for a girl - perhaps You could just change the spelling. Great capture JimBob.

You must be a Republican, JimboB. You never even mentioned Lady Bird (Johnson). I am sure Lyndon would be hurt if he knew. I was/am a big fan of Larry Bird. I think him and Magic Johnson saved the NBA. Larry was really good. He couldn't jump for obvious reasons. :)
