I like the concept and the composition but you are correct about the focus. I have the same problem at times where I get a shot I really like but then the focus is off. Good try, keep it up you're doing really good.

PS. I am a bit biased though, for those who don't know, this was taken by my daughter who I think is going to come up with some really good work as time goes on. Proud of you Kristen!

I like how you've captured this and the colors are beautiful! The focus is bad but you'll get the hang of it. Excellent try!

I tried it left to right out of curiosity, but it flows better the way it is. The interweaving of the background leaves adds interest and a sort of movement.
Cropping down from the top to eliminate the light greens right along the upper border, and cloning out the green stem directly above the left-most stalk eliminates minor distractions.
Then cloning the bottom fern to the bottom left corner eliminates a larger (white)distraction and improves overall balance.
Even out of focus it looks rather neat and accentuates another grouping directly behind the prime subject material.

cool colors... you need more angle in the shot... something should stand out.. you need a subject .. here you have many. so if one was in focus and the rest faded in the background it might be good.. nice shot still
