This Cornish church was built in the 13 century....The churchyard slopes steeply upwards behind the church.... The combination of the church on the water's edge and the wonderful flowers and shrubs in the churchyard are pure magic....Please enjoy.

It is a magical shot with trademark strong composition. I love the way the light is all coming in from the left kind of giving a 'hidden' diagonal line and the use of thirds to place the church and boat. Lovely rich colours too Mick.

Mick, I have commented many times on compositional skill. Many times it is your skies that stand out, but in this case my eyes travel over hte picture and sees green. Light green, medium green, dark green, shadowed green, sunlit green, and then look into the water and find just a hint of reflected greens! The building is marvelous, the composition superb, but all the different shages of green really make this one stand out!

Hello Mick!

A Cornish Poem...just for you!

MORRAB GARDENS

In town on Penwith's sheltered southern bay,

Fair pleasant century treasured garden vies

For public's gaze and rest; and children play

Midst trees and plants and wing-ed butterflies.

Its ponds of carp and water lilies, bold

In summer sun and fountain’s daily spray,

Hide well from winter's melancholy cold

To constantly survive and greet each day;

On Sunday's, bandstand musically fills

With beating, puffing, blowing instrument;

Young strolling mothers with their charges thrill

To rhythms, songs and sounds of merriment.

Sweet Morrab, long may you, O garden fair,

A place remain of sweet and scented air.

Welcome back...my friend...hope your vacation away was delightful!! This is a most beautiful image...Mick...positively lovely! Your capture contains everything I am sure you wanted to convey to your audience...as a 'story' you always hope to tell...when presenting an image...

You hope that your viewers will visualize in your photo... a story that will help the viewer to remember the image well...that it will remain in the mind...as a memorable one... for a very long time...

The fact that this church was built in the thirteenth century...factors in still an added feature...one of historical value...and of architecture...at that time...very interesting...I wish I could see the church yd...with it's collective flowers...I would enjoy that...indeed...

And one more important element here...is that of the cememtery... It's presence too... adds a point of interest...a new dimension...a quaintness...if you will! It further adds to the telling of one's story! ;o)

Nice photo Mick...fine work!

You know ... had to take your visual offering here in for just a bit. Just a bit.

Why you ask?

Was a lil' undecided on the inclusion and use of the leaf-covered branch as some natural framing for your image.

Full-size view is a must for the viewer. As the expansiveness of the churchyard really flourishes once your photo is fully opened.

My intial thought (viewing only the thumbnail) was that perhaps a lower perspective would add some value. Compositionally and simply with respect to an 'unobstructed' view of the church in it's setting.

However, keeping that element in ... is kind of the point in having reread your accompanying narrative, methinks.

Without the natural framing at the top ... and here I am being harsh with respect to descriptors to illustrate my thoughts ... I believe that the result would be more 'pedestrian'. Simply stated.

Wonderful colour, very well composed ... as per your usual. A palpable quality and feel/mood of serenity for this viewer.

Great detail and clarity ... one can easily get lost ... pleasantly so, taking in the obvious and then, the minutiae of your image here.

In ... ahem ... short, this time (not my forte ... the short stuff, that is) ... nice.

Don't wish to sound trite in stating so, not at all.

I do feel like I am peeking in on this one ... and quite comfortably in doing so. Not too tight to frame in any respect. Well-balanced being the operative word.

Very ... nice. :o)

And but of course, thank you for sharing this one with us.
