As promised, this is the second of my church photographs......There is an almost eerie loneliness in the situation of this church The church, built using a silvery granite, is dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, and dates from Norman times...Please enjoy.

What a lovely old church. I was very interested to see that the headstones have their carvings facing the path instead of away. Does this mean the graves are actually under the path? Its a very fine example of a Norman church though. Very nice indeed. x I like the way the light draws you into the picture, leading you from the darkness into the light. :)

Faved this one Mick. The path is just perfect and I find myself walking slowly and taking in all the atmosphere. It is rather spooky and I feel like someone or something is watching. Lights and shadows perfect per usual.

It does have an eerie look - especially with those two imposing headstones guardng the entrance. Lots of great texture in the brickwork, Nice time of year to take this shot with the spring daffodils contrasting new life with the graveyard.

Wonderful POV Mick on this Incredibly Old Church.

Haven't seen that Z pattern frame on a door since I was a young kid.

Really beautiful Mick, love the depth, colours and composition. I see either daffy's or tulips in the background, plus the renewal of the trees growth.

What a quaint setting! Love the color and shadows on the tombstones. Perfect composition following the meandering path. It's a shame this place seems forgotten and let go. It's beautiful and your capture brings it to life! :)Ami

Beautifully composed. I too especially enjoy the contrasts of spring with the very old structure.

Hi All, if you see my initials on you latest upload you will know that I have had a good look at your photo, but at the moment, I'm getting over 200 friends a day, and I just cant keep up with you all, sorry, but I will look, but at times I wont be able to make many comments....No trees were killed in the sending of this message. FAVED!!!!!!!And 10/10. One of the best shots I have ever seen. The composition is wonerful as is the colors and detail. I think getting the cemetary in the shot really set the mood of the old church.

This really gets across the sense of a rugged, rudimentary building that has stood the test of time. It feels like it was built by people with little finesse! You used the light well here, with the path lit but the graveyard around it darker. Nice work.

What a work of art, you certainly have put it all together in this photo. Composition, color & lighting along with a fantastic focal point. I'm enjoying a stroll through your remarkable gallery. Did the Normans always build their towers in a square design??
