I photographed these harvested hay bales, and the dark grey skies because I thought they all combine to create an enchanting picture of an idyllic rural scene in this Cornish landscape….Please enjoy
I really like this photo, the colors are perfect for fall, the sky has the moody look of winter to come. The bird just adds to the shot. Great work on this one. + Favorites.

Fabulous capture Mick. Love the moody looking sky and the depth the hay bales create. Love the bird sitting on the one bale adds a lot. Do you know what kind of bird that was? Maybe a partridge or pheasant
Superb! It's an outstanding shot of contrasts and deep color! Wonderful composition and clarity! love the bird on the bale~dove or pheasant? Gorgeous capture Mick! Faved! :)Ami
The sky and the sun combined for a very great color and lighting Mick. The straw looks like it is on fire. That looks like a pheasant to me on the bale. Great per usual.
enchanting. I like this type of weather: when most objects in front of you are lit with evening sun, and in the background ahead of you is a huge dark storm cloud: it'll be raining later in the night, with lightning, while you rest at home. Perfect mood.
What a fantastic shot! This brought back a lot of memories for me, the first time our local farmer used round bales instead of the ole square ones I was about 14. Some friends and I decided to set them rolling down a slope as we tried to stay on top of them walking backwards. There was a lot of falling off and minor injuries, but was such fun. And no we didnt ruin any of the bales we made sure of that ( the farmer had a huge shotgun lol)
Wonderful colours and lighting in this as usual Mick x
This Image GRABBED my EYE. That's Why I Stopped By.
Thanks For Sharing ! Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience
You know the bird seemed a little odd to me. Was it original to the photo? I downloaded it and zoomed in on the bird in Photoshop and I can see pixels with muted edges just below and to the left of the bird. Most of the birds pixels are muted as well while the pixels in the rest of the photo, even in the shadows, are hard-edged. It's what happens when I rubber stamp an image from one photo into another. I suppose it's possible that the bird was just moving slightly when you shot the photo and that's why the pixels are muted. Is that the case here? Just curious.
The best conditions to photograph hay bales for sure Mick, a grey stormy sky with that special light you get from time to time between the clouds setting off the yellows. Beautifully done. However I too am slightly suspicious of that bird. I think it may just have flown in from another scene.... ;-)
