Came across this horseshoe embedded in the sidewalk in Alexandria,LA. The Horseshoe is believed by many to be a symbol of Good Luck. Early horseshoes were made of iron and since iron could withstand fire they were thought to have special powers and were often used to ward off evil spirits.

I think the whole horse was there at one time Jen-Nay. It just rotted away over the years.
You were lucky to find this one. :)

Wasn't lucky for that horse eh!...lol

Did you know, hanging a horseshoe with the open top uppermost...will let the 'luck in'...whereas the open end facing downwards...will let the luck fall out

Looks as though it sticks out a bit from the surface. Hope nobody stumbles over it. Good Luck :)

The luck will fall out when the horse shoe is up side down as in this case, so turn the picture and all the luck will stay inside of it!!

Nice find and picture:o)

You should have twisted it out with a screwdriver as a keepsake, nice looking shot with all that gravel exposed.

Great textures and a nice catch - it pays to look down sometimes!

Very cool Photo, I wonder if it was a clever Idea, or a unique accident.

If I said that was a lucky shot, that would be too much, wouldn't it? Interesting shot and comments.

Oh I really like this Marsha, love the textures and of course the horse shoe. I thought maybe your horse ran so fast it came off & left it behind, lol.
