Another of our Brown Pelican friend. These beautiful birds were nearly extinct in Louisiana a few years ago. Just as they were beginning to return to Louisiana in large numbers and thrive the BP oil spill accident occurred . This took a grave toll on their return. Covered in oil they were rescued and taken to rehabilitation centers in Louisiana and Mississippi . There is still great concern that this tragedy could put an end to the great recovery that was underway in Louisiana. They haven't given up hope and are continuing to work very hard for the survival of their state bird The Brown Pelican .

I have read recently an article about the damage done to marine life by the great leak. Some of the damage may be permanent. Nice and sharp capture of the pelican.

It looks like a buoy pelican. No wonder they can float.
Good angle and contrasts.

We saw these down on Sanibel Island in Florida and they are kind of goofy at times. This is a very good shot - clean and simple comp too.

It's a poser...A wee bit of exposure but a difficult shot into that bright sky, you did good..

We heard over here about that oil spillage that did the environment all that harm

Wonderful shot here, those wet feathers really show up nicely. How did you get so close... did you have a bucket of fish?
