The herder of the family. This delightful guy belongs to one of my Brothers. Despite their name The Australian Shepherd originated in the United States. From Wikipedia : The Australian shepherd is a breed of a herding breed that was developed on ranches in western United States, originating on a ranch in Boulder, Colorado. Despite its name, the breed, commonly known as an Aussie, did not originate in Australia and is American. They acquired their name because some of these dogs were used to herd Australian sheep. The breed rose gradually in popularity with the boom of western riding after World War I. They became known to the general public through rodeos, horse shows, and through Disney movies made for television.

Good mug shot of this fella Jen-Nay. Reminds me somewhat of a Border Collie. I suspect they are very smart.
I love dogs. Cats not so much.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

The dog biscuit on your head explains his striking pose and cooperation. Excellent work and a sharp image! Well done. His name should be Harry. Change it.

They must be a little more intelligent than other dogs because it is amazing how they control the sheep. Nice close up of this lovely dog Marsha.

Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun

Very cute and intelligent dogs. My sister has three, one called Nemo looks just like the one you have posted here. She herds sheep with them. Nice shot and great info too!
