Wooldridge is the only person actually entombed on the lot he passed away on May 30, 1899. The Colonel spent his life raising , racing and selling horses in the Graves County , KY area . His first and only love "Minnie"was killed in a riding accident , he never married . The figures are of family members , his only love "Minnie ", two of his favorite hunting dogs , a cat and his favorite horse "Fop" . The figure in the center is the Col. astride Fop . "Folklore " is that ...The Illinois Central Railroad supplied a flatcar with new type air brakes ( for the day ) to transport the large statue of Col. Wooldridge astride Fop from Paducah, KY to Mayfield, KY . The story goes that a man whom would later become Mayfield's town drunk , hopped the flatcar , climbed aboard Fop and rode behind the Colonel's statue and entered Mayfield, KY in grand style . The Wooldridge Mounments were featured on Ripley's Believe It or Not in 1984 . The locals call it "The Strange Procession Which Never Moves ". Have a good weekend everyone !
