Dan and I were sitting outside when we spotted something in one of trees . We got up to take a closer look and spotted this little guy getting a closer look at us . This image is not without issues but I wanted to share him with you , he appears to be a young one . When I was a little girl my Father rescued some baby raccoons who were on the edge of the road next to their dead Mother . She had been hit by a car . We took them to a friend who was a Vet . They were all released back into the wild except for one . He was small and weak and the fear was he would not survive in the wild . So he became a member of our Family . We bottle fed him till he went on solids , he was a big fan of the cats food and ice cream ... yes ice cream . We named him Fitzgerald after the road my Father found him on . He was a great pet , got along well with our dogs and cats . When he grew stronger we took him to a rescue so he could be with his own kind . We kids cried and cried but my Father explained it was what was best for Fitzgerald . My Father was right . Fitzgerald lived out his days ... doing what Raccoons do , he appeared to be happy and lived a long life . I never see a Raccoon that I don't smile and think of Fitzgerald and my Father , who loved all animals . Guess this explains my love for all animals ... it's in my DNA .

This young fellow looks weak too Marsha but it won' be easy to catch him. They may be cue but can be also destructive. Nice well timed shot.

He looks somewhat afraid to me also but I know how cute they can be - one of them fell in love with one of our B&W cats that had dark circles around the eye - used to come to the screen door to see her. I think he thought it was another raccoon!

Great Heart Touching Story SAE. I think of the Lone Ranger, Batman, and other Masked Men when I see a Raccoon.

I have a soft spot for them also....thanks for sharing.

A perfect photo to accompany your story about Fitzgerald. These are cute animals but they sure know how to get in trouble.

They are very inquisitive, JenNay. You got a great shot of him.
I can see why the love of animals is in your DNA.
Fitzgerald probably spawned several Great Gatsby's.

I came very close to running over a big fat raccoon yesterday. Luckily it got out of the way at the last second! It was night, and I didn't see him until he got to the edge of the road! Excellent shot of this cute little bugger, Marsha.

Marsha, to me it's not a bandit but a rascal. Think it likes, like Fitzgerald, ice cream as well. Don't give it a try. Else you have to bring it to a rescue as well when it has become an adult, lol.

Very nice and cute capture!

Regards, Cornelius.

Good memories Marsha. I really liked the inclusion of your dear Dad in the story telling. Nice image of this raccoon in the tree and yes they are bandits who have a fondness for cat food. I rather enjoy them in the wild better than on my porch.
