This is The CSS Savannah working the Mississippi in Baton Rouge , Louisiana. She was built in 2004, she is 72 feet long and 30 feet wide . I have a major love for Tugboats and she is a beauty . Without them and the big ships the world would be a different place . Before 9/11, I would go down to The Port Of Indiana on Lake Michigan and watch them and the big ships come in. Sad to say that is no longer possible due to security .

A nice and very clear shot of the tug and barge. The lovely sky adds to the beauty of this shot.

---I have a major love for Tugboats and she is a beauty---

Marsha, think it won't amaze you when I say that I like this image very much. I have to make however a small remark. To me the CSS Savannah isn't a tugboat but a towboat. When you'll check-out this THIS LINK think it will be clear to you as well.

Thanks anyhow for this very fine image.

Regards, Cornelius.

Great shot Marsha - the moodiness suits that river.

Very nice capture , Marsha! Same opinion that Cornelius about A towboat is a boat designed for pushing barges.

I have always been fascinated by these boats also. The traffic is picking up now that the economy is improving a little and we are seeing a lot more of them on the Tennessee River. I love watching them. This is a fantastic shot of the Savannah Marsha.

Lovely looking capture of I must say a tug I have seen before and what a tug it is and you captured it perfectly with stunning detail and great grey and silvery colours too.
