My grandmother was nearly 2 years old on that professionnal photo (Eilersten Scherr's Studio in Epinal, France). It was 1 year before the first World War. Two of her uncles would be killed in Verdun (France). When I fist saw that pic I was puzzled as I remember my grandma as an old lady: she was a kid once! The original photo was a tiny dusty black and white one : http://www.vosfichiers.com/images/jdv1208246075t.jpg

What a lovely post Bruno. I love old photos like this, especially when you know that it was taken on the eve of the First World War. All the terrible things that people were going to have to live through and they had no idea. I like these colorised prints too. This is a real family treasure.

Great work with this photo. I have many of them in an old photo album I found years ago. It would be neat to enhance them all in the way you did here. Top notch work.

I like your touchup work here...the original pose was very good as well, and what a tale this picture tells when you think of the period of history in which it was taken.

I love this presentation, Bruno. Your Grandmother was a little beauty, in this photograph, with a perfect pose. I like the contrast between that dainty dress and the small elegant chair - and the colors are well chosen. Also, thanks for the interesting narrative.

I need to catch up on things so can't comment too much. But I love all of your fine images :)
