I ventured back to Canal Creek this morning, and this was shining in the sun.

The circles in the background are really great. Of course, the subject is great too. :)

Thanks, lovestoned. The circles are the out of focus highlights of sun sparkles on the water of Canal Creek.

Looks like a wild rose to me, but I might be wrong...been a long time since I was in the Northwest. (When I was a child, my family kept a fishing boat in Reedsport...so I remember the general area.) Nice well-thought-out portrait. The bright light on the leaves is emphasizing the strong sun (that is so welcome in the Spring)....and this flower is stretching to meet it, "arms" wide open! The focus is nice and sharp and the soft white rings are a great counterpoint to the rough stems and leaves.

Lovely composition, Bob. I think the hot spots attract too much attention, but I also know how difficult they can be to deal with.Really nice use of depth of field too.

Thanks, sharonwa and snapshooter. It just might be a wild rose, Sharon, at any rate they are a very welcome sight! The light was brutal that day, but I'm glad I brought home a keeper of sorts.
