HAPPY NEW YEAR!! FYI I am a member of the Yaquina Pacific Railway Historical Society and we, the society, own several pieces of railroad equipment. Among them is a Standard Gauge 2-8-2 Mikado-type steam locomotive. We are in the process of restoring it, but unfortunately it will not be restored to full steaming capabilities. There are many and varied reasons for this, but we have undertaken the project to raise it 1" (one inch) off the tracks and converting to operate with compressed air. One of the many things that need correcting/restoration is the cab. Fortunately, in Coos Bay, Oregon, about 100 +/- miles south is the sister locomotive which has been 90% restored. That brings me to this post... Thursday, 12-30-09, a group went to Coos Bay to get a really good look, i.e. measurements and photographs, of the sister, Number 104, of the Oregon Coast Historical Railway. Thanks EVERYONE for the welcome comments!
