Incredible. The B&W just heightens the details. How did you keep the gulls and the waves in focus - you must have shot at F22 or something!! wonderful image - very well done!!

I tend not to like frames, but for this one, it works well as it catches the black of the gulls. The lighting is wonderful. Did you re-color this or were those the actual colors at the time of the shot. It's a well composed photo.

Thanks, caitsmeow. I only made a very slight crop on the bottom to put the horizon on a third line and a bit off the left. No re-coloring at all.

Lovely capture! The photo is wonderful although the border is not even on all sides..or maybe that was on purpose because it does give some feeling of depth.

Bob...

I usually cringe when I get a comment request because I have to figure out how to say something constructive about a posting that I oftentimes don't care for much. I was happily surprised when this popped up in the comment request area. First of all you seem to know how to use a camera the way it should be used. Secondly this shot is pretty much simplicity itself. No over-saturation of colors...just a sepia toned photo of gulls and the ocean. This would have been a very difficult shot for most of us. You have a powerful sun in the background with quickly moving targets flying directly towards you. Yet, there is no overexposure and no motion blur. Wonderful posting. A well deserved C-Index of 78. I would have thought mid-80's, but I didn't vote.

This one caught my eye on the front page. It is well composed and presented. A classic view.

I like this shot .. the gulls in foreground are terrific and the lighting perfect. IMHO a touch less width on the black border might be nicer but this still is awesome!

-My Gallery- The virtue of the camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist, but the impulse it gives him to keep on looking. - Brooks Anderson

love the picture, the birds are amazing..... don't like the fat frame, it destroys the delicate silhouettes of the birds....
