You most certainly kicked up your original/base image. And although I can see the roots of the suggestions that were proffered to you ... you made the changes your own. :o)
Got one last idea of sorts, and no slight intended to your final presentation here ... as I do like it very much.
The border?
To mirror the elements of the central shape/figure a tad more and tie everything in (perhaps? ... and just my humble opinion of course) ... black line on the inside.
Maybe, both inside and out ... to encapsulate the tiling forms/shapes. Thickness in pixels equal to that of the black outline surrounding the centered graphic.
/\ Just an additional thought, 'tis all.
And by the way, to stimulate another person's creativity (which you did for me), is a high compliment in my book.
Final final analysis?
Nicely ... done.
... ...
The 'eyes'.
Er, can't help meself. :oP
Curious if you tried your original, as in, the gradient that was behind before changing to the solid colour?
I will leave that creative executive decision up to you.
Thanks for taking the stuff and running with it. Think it paid off some good good dividends in your image here.
Annnnnd ... but of course, thank you for sharing your creativity with us. :o)
I really liked the philosophy behind this image, though i think the image its self needs a bit more work, thanks for giving us something to think about
