This is the "Super Moon" of 22 June 13 as seen from the Southwestern USA. There is nothing new about pictures of the moon. What is new is that you can take such pictures these days with a relatively simple digital camera. Here is how I did this: 1. Used a tripod because I wanted a long exposure. 2. Used aperture priority at f8.0 this is the minimum aperture on my camera. 3. Used Auto Focus. I find it difficult to set my camera at infinity and get better results if I let the auto focus do it. 4. Zoomed in to the maximum optical zoom. This is 26x on my camera. 5. Set the shutter to continuous so that it took a picture every 30 seconds. This way I could change the view in between exposures and have my hands off the camera when it actually took the pictures. 6. I took about 10 shots, chose a good one and edited it with a photo editor. I used PhotoScape for that. I cropped the picture to fill the screen, then adjusted gamma, the contrast, and brightness. Some slight weird colors were introduced by this process. I got rid of that by setting the saturation to zero.
