This is the tiny hand of my granddaughter when just a few hours old, in the hand of her mother. I converted it to greyscale and had to remove a lot of hospital paraphenalia from the shot (it was in the Intensive Care unit as she was 8 weeks early so there was plenty of it) I welcome your comments on this one. I think I may have overdone the soft focus. . . . . Kodak LS420

Picture Purrrfect . Some people are like slinky's, completely useless but still a lot of fun when you push them down the stairs. 8~O

Extraordinary & lovely manipulation. You've done an amazing job... You've not only made a great shot, but you've adden a love-mood to it, the love of the mother for her newborn... excelent way to express it in a shot. I really love it, well done.

Beauty is no quality in things themselves. It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them, and each mind perceives a different beauty.

It is a strong, simplistic and elegant image.Objectively, a good study in composition and shading. I agree focus is a bit too much.-----------overall, Excellent.

Great shot...super duper. I agree the focus may be a little too soft but with this who cares? Just a great one.

Lyn, you outdid yourself on this one. This is excellent. I really think this image is indeed precious not to mention perfect. The soft focus is just what is needed. And, then there's that precious little hand. Way to go.

fogz and I had the same reaction...made my eyes smart and brought back so many fond memories...glad that things worked out so well, as yes, maybe it is a touch overdone on the soft side, but tweaking and playing around could only bring you more pleasure, I'm sure...thanks for this lovely post :)PJ

Hi Lyn...I just got this in the voting booth. Without knowing any of the details from your narrative, this image still scored very high with me. It seemed as though the soft focus was intentional, soft as a Mother's love for her child. When I saw your comment and realized all the work you did to bring this image to us, well, you did good my friend, you did good. The conversion to grayscale is perfect and the fact that you removed so much of the tubing and arm bands all other unfriendly items that go with being in a Neo-Natal Intensive Care..well, you are a super Grandma. I hope that you plan to print and then frame this image and give it to your daughter either for Christmas or Mother's Day or when beautiful granddaughter turns 1 year old. A beautiful gift...the gift of life and love. Thank you for sharing that precious moment with me ;=)

This is very good Eve. The soft focus is really a nice effect but as you say might have overdone it slightly...I am sure that this will be a great heirloom for you, your daughter and granddaughter when she is older...very nice...gerry.

My son was 8 weeks early also, so I know that this picture does not even began to show the smallness of this angel. Beauty at it best, and may God bless you and your family and especially your new arrival.
