If you think there is something not quite right about this rose - you are correct. I painstakingly removed the background (couldnt have you all seeing the weeds in my garden :) ) and streaming sore eyes, an aching back, and a starving husband later I realised I had carefully removed the stem ! I mistook the little leaf for it. One day I may do it over again but in the meantime I hope you enjoy this 'floating rose'. . . . . .Panasonic DMC-FZ7. . . . . For Heaven's sake, young lady, why didn't you start all over again and get it right? You know we have extremely high standards here on Caedes--and here you are letting down the side! ROFL
My guess is most people would have been entirely captivated by the lovely blossom and would never have noticed if you hadn't told on yourself. That's a great story, Eve.

Lol ... well it's good to know that 'we' are not the only ones suffering in our artistic endeavours.

Some more thoughts ... add a diffuse glow to the layer with the flower ... might soften up the edges if that is a look you wish to present. Check out missydogs' images for some inspiration. Neil does exceptional work in this genre.

I like the simplicity of your image here. Elegant and shows off the bloom very well. And since you already know about the stem ... well, perhaps a revisit is in order.

Still a lovely presentation ... another diamond in the rough, if you will.

p.s. Ya know hubby was looking a bit underfed last time I saw him. ;o)

Great color and I can appreciate all the work you put into this..I used to cut them out "by hand" until I finally discovered how to use the mask feature in PhotoShop, but there are always about nine ways to go about doing the same thing in that program. Nice job and thanks for all your hard work.

I think I see a weed!! 8~P I teasin' baby, I teasin'!!

A grand work in post to stomp out those nasty weeds!! Wonderful colorings on this fantastic flower!! A little more stem going into the border and a blur technique could soften those edges a wee bit. I'd probably clone out the greens at the 9 o'clock position too, since they're no where else in the image. All, in all a great job and a smashing desktop wallpaper!!

How I envy your talent Eve ... here we have a total foul-up and I'll be darned if it isn't it still lovely to look at ? I do believe I can suffer without the stem on this one ... and your reputation shall remain untarnished in my mind.

Don't change a thing!! The black background saves it and makes it. I think you would regret putting the stem back in, it would spoil the enveloping effect. Well done.
Cheers! Ray.

Couldn't you have cut and pasted just the stem? It is a lovely rose. Well worth the effort you put in. Hard job explaining these things to husbands though! lol
