A year ago I abandoned these photos taken on a disappointingly misty morning when I stood amongst other tourists with very impressive cameras, all busy adjusting their lenses and controls while I snapped randomly with my little Kodak V550 :) At that time I used photo editors only for resizing, but have recently spent some time trying to improve them. The original of this is HERE and I would be interested to know what you think and am open to any suggestions. I used the recently discovered 'Fade Correction' and some sharpening and colour adjustment in PSP.

remarkable difference between original and, dare I say, final .. A little heavy in the shrubberies .. but who needs shrubberies, too close to vegetables, if you ask me ..

as we all know .. sometimes you have to capture an image when you're there, rain or shine .. YOU chose to be there in foul weather, "just like home", you said ..

your task, should you choose to accept it, is to go back .. shoot this scene in all seasons and holidays .. or .. ring up some poor chap to go out and shoot it for you, just call around Paris, you'll find somebody eventually

costs about the same .. your choice ;)

I would willingly accept the first option LOL . . . is anyone willing to send me an air ticket, provide luxury accomodation and guarantee a clear day? I would also need my hand held as I panic in the lift :)

Thanks Keifer.

I think this is a terrific capture and presentation. The colours have a lot of depth to them, I really like it.

I'm a proponent of image editing -- I think it's an integral part of digital photography -- and I'm glad you took at shot at this. It strikes me as a bit too heavy-handed, though, and I'm wondering if that "fade correction" is an all-or-nothing adjustment, or whether it can be tuned to a lesser degree?

Major improvement, Eve...you've really gotten the buttons figured out on this one. I had a hard time getting to see the first shot, as it asked me for a password or email addy, but after I waited a few seconds, it showed up. Good job!!!

Before I did anything, I put into favorites and saved for desktop. Wanted to make sure I didn't lose it. Quite a difference between final and original. Great view. Wish I could do those editing things but I never seem to have the time, patience or ability. Maybe one of these day. Lots to look at and I will enjoy every minute. Now I'm off to look at Eiffel #2. Can't wait.

Such a difference between the original and this - Fade Correction seems to work like magic. Wave the wand and the fog disappears. Very nice view and your Kodak did quite good job too.

Lyn, in the first place I like to say what you already know, lol. It's not only the camera but mainly your eyes which make the image. Sometimes you have to take images in not ideal conditions and often you can't go back to give it another try. Think they have found out photo editors for that reason, lol. The result however is wonderful! Regards, Cornelius

Hi Lyn, firstly I have to say I really like your original with the mistiness around the edges - it was obviously an overcast day and the image was very good despite the weather. I think just slight saturation would have been enough - I think the image above is a little too much contrast and something is lost although it is still a good image! I had a similar problem today photographing Salford Quays and looking at the image I posted I think I did the same - overworked it a little! It is all a learning experience though. I have been up the tower three times now - last time I was there it rained so hard I could not even stand outside to take a photograph!! lol! :)

Do you feel like a weatherman now? lol You can turn a foggy day into just an overcast one with a keyboard. I think you did an amazing job on this, Eve. Now, I wonder what everyone would have said, had you not offered them the before shot for comparison. lol Most of all, I think the perspective is stunning.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Well there is a definite difference from original and signicant improvement Lyn...photo editors have there place in phtography as long as they are not overused. You did good here...I have 3 editors and use all three for different things...gerry

I don't know a lot about photography Eve, but I do feel that this is a major improvement, not only in the colors and contrast but the sharpness as well. I like it! =)
