The Tasman Sea, West Coast New Zealand. The Cabbage Tree (Cordyline australis) is native to New Zealand - the name was given by early European settlers in New Zealand who used the inner leaves and stem as a cooked or raw vegetable. . . .Panasonic DMC-FZ7 . . .Thanks for taking a look. When I saw the title all I could think of was my daughter and her Cabbage Patch dolls. My wife and mother hunted high and low for each one. Now my grandkids play with them. When does it go. Just a beautiful photo Lyn. Nothing surprising about that. I love the framing (both with trees and regular frame). The view is great and the colors are so warm. Come on spring.

There must be an abundance of these...I'm wondering if they're really good to eat. So your fall is on the way and our spring is still struggling here.

Lovely scene, and so well photographed.

Those trees made an excellent frame. Beautiful venue. I wonder who was the first to try to cook those stems and leaves.

Love the framing using the cabbage trees. However, I would have to head for that water.

Cabbage trees, what a wonderful name!! Great idea to use these two as a frame, it really gives something of the tropical to the shot.
